Sabrina S. Austin, PhD, LPClinical Health PsychologistSabrina S. Austin, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist with a specialty in health psychology. She uses an integrative approach to psychotherapy to help her clients work towards their goals for improving their quality of life. In addition to treating depression, anxiety, anger, grief, and relationship issues, she has worked extensively with individuals struggling to cope with chronic illness. Her areas of expertise include chronic pain, spinal cord injuries, paralysis, and epilepsy. She offers hope to individuals suffering from ailments labelled as functional, conversion, and somatic complaint disorders. Dr. Austin conducts presurgical psychological evaluations for individuals considering back surgery and pain implantable devices.
Dr. Austin is a Dallas-area native. She is a proud alumna of the Texas Academy of Mathematics & Science at the University of North Texas. She received her Bachelor’s degree in psychology and history at Baylor University and her Master’s from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her doctoral degree was earned at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School where she wrote her dissertation on the efficacy of presurgical screening in predicting the outcome of spine surgery. She subsequently completed a fellowship in pain psychology at Scott & White Memorial Hospital. She enjoys reading, mentoring, and engaging in a variety of geek-adjacent hobbies. |
